How the pages here are sourced

This site publishes prices and comparisons about services it competes with, which is exactly the situation where a publisher is most tempted to make numbers up. Three rules apply to everything under this byline:

  • A price carries a source and a date, or it does not get published. The cost calculator shows this most plainly: every row links to where the figure came from and states when it was last checked.
  • Where the honest answer is a range, it is published as a range. Cable is priced by ZIP code and promotional period; flattening that into one confident number would be a fabrication dressed as precision.
  • No ratings, no testimonials. This site publishes neither, and explains why rather than quietly omitting them.

Corrections

When something here is wrong it gets corrected on the page rather than left standing, and where a claim cannot be substantiated it is marked unverified rather than rephrased into something that sounds safer. If you have found an error — particularly a price that has moved — the fastest route is the contact page.
