How to Set Up IPTV on Android TV Box

Android TV is the easiest platform for IPTV because most players are listed in the Play Store and install like any other app. Once installed, you log in with an M3U playlist URL or, better, Xtream Codes credentials, which let the player refresh the channel list and guide automatically instead of re-importing a file. Anything not in the Play Store can be sideloaded through the Downloader app after enabling installs from unknown sources.

Install From Google Play, Not From a File

On an Android TV or Google TV box that has the Google Play Store, both players below install like any other app, so there is nothing to sideload. Google's Android TV Help gives the steps: from the Home screen, scroll to Apps, select the Google Play Store, browse or search for the app, select it, and follow the on-screen instructions to install it.

Some boxes ship without the Play Store. On those, an app can only be installed from a downloaded file, which means allowing installs from an unknown source for the app that opens the file. Do that only for a player you have checked, and switch the permission off again once it is installed.
