How to Set Up IPTV on Roku

Roku is the most restrictive platform for IPTV because it does not allow sideloading and has few native IPTV apps. The practical route on the Roku itself is screen mirroring from an Android phone or a Windows PC. Mirroring works but is noticeably worse for live sport, since the phone stays busy for the duration and a call or notification can interrupt playback. For regular viewing, a device that runs a player natively, plugged into the same TV, is the better answer.

Heads up: Roku locks down third-party app installs more tightly than Firestick or Android TV. Screen mirroring from an Android device is the quickest workaround. If you want a native, full-featured experience, a Firestick is worth considering — check our Firestick setup guide.

Method 1: Screen Mirror from Android (Quickest Option)

  1. 1On your Roku, go to Settings → System → Screen Mirroring → Enable Screen Mirroring.
  2. 2On your Android phone, download and install IPTV Smarters Pro from the Play Store.
  3. 3Log into IPTV Smarters Pro with your Vivimate credentials using the Xtream Codes API option.
  4. 4Pull down the Android notification bar and tap Screen Cast or Smart View.
  5. 5Choose your Roku device from the list of available screens.
  6. 6Your Android display — along with the IPTV stream — will appear on your Roku TV.

Method 2: Plug a Player Device into the Same TV

  1. 1Plug a Fire TV Stick or Android TV device into a spare HDMI port on your Roku TV (or on the TV your Roku is connected to).
  2. 2Switch the TV input to that HDMI port.
  3. 3Install TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro on the device.
  4. 4Sign in with your Vivimate Xtream Codes credentials or M3U URL.
  5. 5Use the new device for IPTV and keep the Roku for its other channels.

No Longer Available: Roku Private Channels

Older guides, including an earlier version of this page, describe adding a “private channel” at my.roku.com with an access code. Roku stopped supporting non-certified private channels in 2022, so that method no longer works and there is no Vivimate Roku channel code to request. Use screen mirroring or a second device instead.
