This ranking is built from published specs, channel lineups and how each service positions itself — not a claim of independent lab testing. It's weighted toward the things that actually ruin an evening: channel depth, stream stability under peak load, on-demand library, device coverage, support responsiveness and price.
We load streams at the busiest moment of the local sporting week, not at a convenient hour. Frame drops, buffering and stream failures under real load decide most of the ranking.
A channel listed in the guide has to actually resolve and carry what the guide says it does. Padded lineups full of dead entries score badly however large the headline number.
Programme data has to match the broadcaster's published schedule. A guide that shows yesterday's listings is a daily annoyance that no channel count compensates for.

The Bundesliga split is the defining fact of German pay television. Sky Deutschland holds the Saturday 15:30 fixtures and the Konferenz — the multi-match wraparound show that is genuinely one of the best products in sports broadcasting — while DAZN carries Friday evening and Sunday matches. Neither will sell you the other's games. A German football fan who wants to see their club every week has no legitimate single-subscription option.
The Champions League compounds it. Rights have shifted between Sky, DAZN and Amazon Prime Video in recent cycles, with the marquee Tuesday match on Amazon and the bulk on DAZN. The DFB-Pokal splits between ARD and Sky. Formula 1 is a Sky exclusive. The winter sports that Germany watches in enormous numbers — Biathlon, Skispringen, Wintersport generally — stay free to air on ARD and ZDF, which is one genuinely good aspect of the German system.
For an IPTV service, Saturday at 15:30 is the test that matters. That is when the Konferenz starts, when German streaming load peaks, and when a service that looked fine on a Wednesday afternoon shows what it is really made of. Use the trial window on a Saturday, not a weekday.

IPTV is entirely legal in Germany and is how Telekom's MagentaTV, the ARD Mediathek and ZDFmediathek all deliver content.
Accessing or distributing copyrighted broadcasts without authorisation is not legal, and Germany's position hardened after the Court of Justice of the European Union's 2017 Filmspeler ruling, which established that streaming from an obviously unauthorised source can itself constitute infringement rather than mere passive viewing. German rights holders and the GVU have pursued operators and resellers vigorously under § 106 UrhG.

The Bundesliga Konferenz is the peak load moment of the German streaming week. A service that holds a stable 4K feed through the Saturday afternoon window has proven the only thing most German buyers actually care about.
