Why does IPTV show a black screen?
- ▸ Incompatible video decoder or player setting in your IPTV app
- ▸ HDMI handshake failure between your streaming device and TV
- ▸ Stream codec not supported by the currently selected player
- ▸ 4K/HDR resolution mismatch between device output and TV input
- ▸ Running an outdated version of your IPTV app
Fix 1: Switch the Video Decoder in Your IPTV App
- 1In TiviMate: Settings → Player → toggle between Software decoder and ExoPlayer.
- 2In IPTV Smarters: tap the settings icon while a channel is playing → switch the player engine.
- 3Test the same channel after each change to see which decoder resolves it.
💡 ExoPlayer handles the widest range of IPTV stream formats. Start there.
Fix 2: Switch Between H.264 and H.265 Stream Formats
- 1Certain devices lack hardware support for H.265 (HEVC), which causes a black video frame even when audio plays.
- 2Look for a stream format or quality option within your IPTV app settings.
- 3Switch from H.265 to H.264 if the option exists, or contact Vivimate IPTV support to switch your account's stream encoding.
Fix 3: Re-Seat the HDMI Cable
- 1Unplug the HDMI cable from both your streaming device and the back of your TV.
- 2Wait 10 seconds, then firmly reconnect both ends.
- 3Power off both the TV and streaming device, then turn them back on.
- 4A loose or degraded HDMI connection commonly triggers black-screen handshake errors.
Fix 4: Reduce Your Display Output Resolution
- 1On Firestick: Settings → Display & Sounds → Display → Video Resolution → drop from 4K to 1080p.
- 2On Android TV: Settings → Device Preferences → Display → Resolution → select 1080p.
- 3Test whether the black screen disappears at the lower resolution setting.
Fix 5: Disable HDR or Automatic Frame Rate Matching
- 1On Firestick: Settings → Display & Sounds → Display → Match Original Frame Rate → Off.
- 2Also disable: Dolby Vision → Off.
- 3HDR and Dolby Vision handshake failures frequently cause black screens when SDR channels are being played.
Fix 6: Update Your IPTV App to the Latest Version
- 1Open your device's app store — Play Store, Amazon Appstore, or equivalent.
- 2Search for your IPTV app and install any available update.
- 3Restart the app after updating.
- 4Old app versions may not support the codec formats used by newer IPTV streams.
Fix 7: Contact Vivimate IPTV Support
- 1If only certain channels go black, the stream itself may need resetting on the server side.
- 2Send a WhatsApp message to Vivimate IPTV with your username and the specific channel name.
- 3Our team can reassign your account to an alternate stream source for any affected channels.
